Project Brief

Arwen and Annarita had been working on a piece of choreography and needed to create something that could fix the moment in time. They wanted a video that could be used to showcase their work, and that could stand on its own as a piece of art in itself, and also to be sent to dance and film festivals.

Results and ROI

This film is currently being sent to festivals.

It is also being used to showcase the work of both the Dancer and the Choreographer.

Details, technique, and the story behind the production

Arwen developed the origial concept, which was an acknowledgement of the work of the sufragettes to create a more equal world. This meant that she as a dancer was able to continue to be a professional dancer throughout her pregnancy and was given opportunities which would not have been offered in the past.

This project was a way to say Thank You to the work of these women, whose vision enabled Arwen to feel welcome in her work place.  We wanted this piece to eventually be part of a larger body of work celebrating pregnancy.

We collaborated together to make the piece. I was able to explain what could be done in video that could take the dance piece to another level, as they were more familiar with performance.

We also had a limited budget to work to, which meant that I took on all of the video production roles, and we had to improvise at times. It was shot against an improvised green screen and composited in After Effects, edited in Premiere.
